Here is a place to start! CPED – Community Planning and Economic Development
ByThis link is to the agenda of a recent Community Planning and Economic Development meeting. We might disagree on a few of these items, but when the city is raising our property taxes at 8% a year and threatening to increase them up to 16% per year, do you really think that this bureaucratic central planning department is a responsible use of our tax dollars or even a sustainable expenditure?
Does the city council really think they can plan and develop the “community” better than we can if left to our own initiatives? Wouldn’t there be even more development without all the restrictions and ridiculous levels of property taxes on residents and businesses? By the way, if you think property taxes are high on your house (and they are), just go to a local business owner and ask him or her about their property tax bill.
I believe that government central planning is a waste of our tax dollars and actually discourages people and businesses from wanting to work and invest in the city. If every individual were able to come to Minneapolis with a dream and then make that dream come true, we would truly have a city to be proud of, a city of dreams come true.

No offense, Kris, but IMHO you need a better banner photograph–this one makes you look a little wet behind the ears.
Not just young, but unsophisticated.
I think limiting property taxes has broad appeal– and as you implied in one of your speeches fiscal responsibility by the city is at the heart of that. Getting the govt to focus on the basics (I think I’d add
education to your list) is very appealing. Minnesota and America are in for a ‘new normal’ of hard times, and the sooner the govt shrinks (as the private world has done) the better. People are making painful sacrifices now for their families’ education and old age. Don’t come asking for new fees and taxes to support a government left over from the bubble era.

I couldn’t agree more. The reason I leave off education is that the city council has virtually no control over that. Hopefully some good people will run for school board next time around.
My photo, well, that was hard enough to make that banner, if you want to help out… I am very open to remaking the banner, but at this point I need to spend my free time out meeting people.
